Notably, DeGraw is currently on a national co-headlining tour with hit artist, Andy Grammer. He has also opened many arena shows for Billy Joel. Wow, this is amazing. Can we do this? DK : The song has a really fresh, contemporary sound. It kind of takes your sound, and puts it into in a cool way.

It's the next phase in his life and he's all about "focusing on the good things. Something Worth Saving explores many genres and sounds of music. DeGraw explores pop, soul, instrumental, funk, and '60s music making this album different than the ones of his past. Gavin grew up in New York and produced his first album in named Chariot and aside from his new release, has recorded three other studio albums along with a greatest hits collection all while becoming a famed name. Like some of his previous music, this new album has a happy, cheery sound with many different moods represented that act as a seasonal wrap-up to the summer of In , he released two new singles "You Got Me" and "Fire" followed by a greatest hits album that fall. Aside from touring, DeGraw was pretty much out of the public eye in , leaving many to wonder if this was the time when he did most of the writing for his new album.

He somehow combines relatable, guy-next-door ease with cool, city-boy charm. Gavin alone wrote every song from Chariot , Gavin DeGraw , and Free , and their simplistic honesty attracted loyal fans. The production is bigger, the songs are more varied, and Gavin seems one step closer to a true pop star. It is his most balanced, consistent album, and every single song is exemplary. Even the worst song on the album is great. There are only a couple of piano ballads here, as Gavin chose to expand ever more and try out new moods and genres. The instrumentation is richer and more dynamic, with everything from ukuleles and mandolins to trumpets and strings.

Others make drastic though proven to be successful changes to their sound like going from country to pop hi, Taylor Swift. And then, there are artists like Gavin DeGraw who are somewhere in the middle. I have been a fan of Gavin DeGraw since his songs first hit the airwaves. Now with a new album titled Something Worth Saving, he continues to accentuate a cool boy ease, only adding a hint of pop flare that makes his music seem effortless and playful. His album cover alone visually stands out from the rest which gives us a hint as to what to expect. With a vibrant blue and the black birds flying away, the cover alludes to a shift in direction in his music; one that is more upbeat and less dark.
