Located in the south Bronx, the School weaves the law into its four-year curriculum and it aims to provide students with a comprehensive high school education and lay the academic and social groundwork for success in college and careers. Students have the chance to get exposure to the legal profession while still in high school. All students take a four-year sequence of classes in law and social justice in addition to classes in the core subject areas. Eleventh-graders complete a community service based project and 12th-graders complete internships at a law offices. Teachers reported in the NYC School Survey that order and discipline are maintained at the school, though the student suspension rate is much higher than the citywide average. There also has been a lot of teacher turnover and concerns for safety in the surrounding neighborhood.
